Assessment Methods

Learning Portfolios

Assessment DescriptionThe Learning Portfolios not only included samples of student work but also asked questions such as:

AutoCAD

• What drawing commands such as line or circle, did you find most useful? Why?

• What editing commands such as erase or trim, did you find most useful? Why?

• What were the benefits in using “layers” in AutoCAD?

• What commands, techniques, and other features that were not helpful, confusing, or difficulty to use or understand? Why?.
Learning OutcomesD. Employ AutoCAD Editing commands to alter an existing AutoCAD drawing.

E. Apply the use of an AutoCAD Layering system to a drawing.

Additional Highlights

In one of the Learning Portfolios a student wrote this conclusion of the course:

"This class really pushed me forward and helped me further my goal of becoming an architect. I realized that one needs to be comfortable with having constant problems to get through. I also learned that to prevent problems one can make sure they are following a check list of instructions. CAD is an essentially design tool and I’m glad I am familiar with it. Thanks Nestor for all you taught me, your patient help and a great semester."
