ARCH 52A - Architectural CADD - Stage 3 - Nestor Regino
Assessment
Assessment Methods | Learning Portfolios |
---|---|
Assessment Description | The Learning Portfolios not only included samples of student work but also asked questions such as: AutoCAD • What drawing commands such as line or circle, did you find most useful? Why? • What editing commands such as erase or trim, did you find most useful? Why? • What were the benefits in using “layers” in AutoCAD? • What commands, techniques, and other features that were not helpful, confusing, or difficulty to use or understand? Why?. |
Learning Outcomes | D. Employ AutoCAD Editing commands to alter an existing AutoCAD drawing. E. Apply the use of an AutoCAD Layering system to a drawing. F. Apply the process of drawing construction to complete two-dimensional architectural drawings such as a floor plan, elevation, section, or site plan. |

Changes
Details | In relationship to these two learning outcomes: C. Demonstrate the use of initial drawing settings using Templates and Wizards. The course included an exercise is using a drawing Wizard. H. Integrate dimensioning and tolerances into an AutoCAD drawing. The course included dimensions in some of the early drawings in the course. |

Additional Highlights
In one of the Learning Portfolios a student wrote this conclusion of the course:"This class really pushed me forward and helped me further my goal of becoming an architect. I realized that one needs to be comfortable with having constant problems to get through. I also learned that to prevent problems one can make sure they are following a check list of instructions. CAD is an essentially design tool and I’m glad I am familiar with it. Thanks Nestor for all you taught me, your patient help and a great semester."
