Data Summary1. Greater than 90% of students passed the course.

2. Student surveys were positive regarding course lectures, reading assignments and case studies.

3. Clinical evaluations were completed by all students and reflected a positive correlation between class content and clinical application.

4.All students were successful charting utilizing electronic medical records

The majority of the students evaluated the available electronic medical documentation system as difficult to use.
Analysis Summary1.Student satisfaction surveys regarding SIMCHART (electronic medical documentation) were overall, negative. Students found the system difficult to use.

2.Clinical faculty also found the SIMCHART difficult to use.

3.Clinical faculty did not see a correlation between the ability to chart using SIMCHART and reflecting the student's knowledge of the patient's condition, medications, and nursing plan of care.

4. Clinical instructors were able to provide feedback to students on a weekly basis, allowing students to improve, 100% of all students completing Nursing 50 passed the clinical rotation.
Next Steps Planned1.Fall 2013 semester, Nursing 50 will delete SIMCHART and implement an addition electronic medical record charting system.
