More DetailsThe course outline, including SLO's, for African American Consciousness was completely revised in the spring of 2013. The course was taught on the basis of this revision. The first order of business was to assess, through praxis, the quality of the newly revised course outline in the classroom reality. Overall, this newly revised version AFAM 30 did well. Structure, content, methods of student assessment, and student success rate, all proved to be more than satisfactory. Most importantly, students were engaged in the class, their imaginations were aroused, the rate of class participation was high, and the success rate as measured by grades exceeded 75%, the highest of any of the courses that I teach. The next step is to start to assess specific learning outcomes. For fall of 2013, the outcomes to be assessed are outcomes A, B, C, D, and E.
