Data SummaryOn the midterm exam, the average student scores for the two problems assessing SLO B were 32% and 42% respectively. On the final exam, the average student score for the problem assessing SLO B was 70%. On the final exam, the average student score for the problem assessing SLO A was 40%.
Analysis SummaryBased on the results of the midterm exam grades, the students had not achieved SLO B. The students were offered extra credit to redo the problems. Most needed to attend office hours for help. Based on the strong improvement on SLO from the midterm to the final, the majority of students had achieved SLO B by the end of the semester. The assessment of SLO A on the final was similar to the assessment of SLO B at the midterm. However since the students did not have the opportunity to redo the problems or attend office hours after the final exam, there was no opportunity for improvement. (Course material related to SLO A was not covered until the end of the semester.)
Next Steps PlannedBased on the SLO assessments, it is apparent that the students have a great difficulty learning the material in the current online format. It was only with in person help during office hours that the students were able to achieve SLO B. Possible modifications to the course include creating additional online resources (such as instructional videos) or possibly changing the course from online to hybrid so as to require some in person meetings.
