CS 160B - Unix/Linux Shell Scripting - Stage 5 - Greg Boyd
Assessment
Assessment Methods | Analysis of exam, quiz, or homework items linked to specific SLOs |
---|---|
Assessment Description | Quiz and Final Exam questions from previous semesters were re-asked this semester after strengthening the lecture material that supports the topics. |
Learning Outcomes | 1. Evaluation of SLO G: Design and implement shell functions with limited side-effects. This SLO was evaluated in Fall2012 and the results found to be lacking in one sub-area - the list generation of for loops. This was the subtopic that was addressed more completely in lecture. |

Data Summary | This SLO was re-evaluated in Spring2013 after some reorganization of the course to provide additional time for loops. The issue with loops from Fall2012 was that students did not understand how to generate the list in 'for' loops, as that sub-task had only a 40% success rate compared to the acceptable 70% success rate of the other sub-tasks. |
Analysis Summary | A success rate of 70% on all sub-tasks of this SLO was deemed acceptable. This was the only sub-area (of 3 identified) whose success rate was below this threshold |
Next Steps Planned | The success rate for this SLO is now acceptable and no further work will be undertaken. |
