Additional Highlights

The field experience component of the two-semester Nutrition Assistant Program includes two capstone projects to showcase students' learning and achievements.

ePortfolio Project - from the start of the program in the Fall, students begin creating an ePortfolio using a template from Google Sites or other web applications, guided by a rubric. The e-Portfolio is a work-in-progress throughout the Nutrition Assistant Program and courses, as students "collect", "select" and "reflect" on pieces to include. Instructor provides feedback at the first "check point" (end of Fall); the second "check point" occurs in the Spring semester, conducted as small group online "peer reviews". Upon completion of the program, students will have a completed e-portfolio to use for job or educational advancement.

"Learning Journey" online presentation project- during the 10-week field experience each student documents their learning activities (through slides, photos, or videos) and creates a presentation to showcase how s/he met all 12 of the SLOs. Many of the students create multimedia videos posted on YouTube, which is a wonderful memento of their internships, professional growth, and achievements.
