| Assessment Description | The assessment included two one-on-one critique sessions with the instructor that focused on published work performed for The Guardsman. It also included a point value assessment of their end of the semester portfolio of published work. A self-assessment paper was part of the portfolio that included such questions as describing the relationship between an editor and a reporter; what did they learn from the publishing experience; and strengths and weaknesses of their experience on The Guardsman. |

| Data Summary | Approximately 85% of the students produced work that met SLO objectives for the course. The great majority of students were able to create portfolios that meet professional standards and correctly answer a question related to the significant organizational components found in a campus newspaper and the varying tasks involved. |
