Changes
| Details | I've added more at home assessments, particularly guided case studies using current ecological data. In Spring 2013, I modified the way we do discussions on articles relating to current ecological topics. I made the groups smaller and had the students lead the discussions 3 times instead of 1 to allow them to improve on the skills they were developing. I added an electronic discussion forum to allow the students to explore the topics and not force them to physically meet outside of class time (which was difficult for many). |

| Criteria | I used the results are of a homework assignment and a question on the final exam, both about applying models and using scientific processing skills. Homework proficient if answered >70% of questions correctly. Exam question: proficient was out of 2 or 3 out of 3 points. The data above are only for the final exam question, but the results are similar for the homework assignment. |

| More Details | This semester, I've added guided case studies to be done at home which explore the concepts from class in more depth. I've also modified my in-class questions (an informal assessment) to better gauge student misconceptions. I use information from the previous semester to determine where these misconceptions lie and modify the course accordingly. I also will spend more time on later material to better cover Course SLO B and C. |
