Improvement Details

Details1. Took improvements made in the previous Fall 2013 semester to update the course outline of record. A new course outline was written and approved by the Curriculum Committee this Spring 2014 semester (submitted at the end of March, approved in April 2014).

2. Updated computer basics section to include more current topics such as relating keyboarding skills to devices such as tablets and smart phones.

3. Developed new assessments for computer basics, Internet basics, and cloud computing.

4. Continued to improve course activities (particularly 1- and 3-minute timed drills) to ensure that major learning outcomes are met.

Assessment Methods

Methods1. Weekly technique checks via direct observation to ensure that MLO #1 was being met (Demonstrate proper typing technique and erogonomics for alphabetic and numeric keyboarding).

2. Daily or weekly timed writings (1, 2, and 3-minute) to demonstrate keyboarding proficiency and improvement (MLO #2)

3. Multiple choice quizzes on computer basics and Internet to demonstrate computer literacy as it relates to keyboarding.
