Improvement Details
Details | We have streamlined over 20 "learning objectives" from the course outline of record and streamlined them into 5 SLO's per current school wide policy. |
---|
Assessment Methods
Methods | This semester we combined outcomes for the two sections' final cumulative exam, of which each question is mapped to an established SLO. We assessed the outcomes of 3 chosen SLOs and have analyzed the outcome for these SLOs |

Assessment Data Discussion and Analysis
Term | Spring 2014 |
---|---|
How and With Whom | I discussed SLOs/Assessment Methods with the Instructor of the other section of FIN 138, Michael Needham. |
Number Assessed | 29 |
Data Summary | I've assessed the combined outcomes of the 2 course sections for the 3 assessed SLOs accordingly: 1) SLO-A (Pros/Cons Stk Ownership and Strategies): 72% correct reflects proficiency 2) SLO-B (Asset Allocations Schemes regarding financial objectives, timeline and risk preferences) 78% correct reflects proficiency 3) SLO-C (Portfolio Assessment Techniques) 55% does not reflect proficiency and only suggests "developing skill" at best. |
Planned Improvements | For the specific SLO-C, next semester the course needs to include greater discussion of portfolio assessment techniques as well as great er homework problems on the subject and possibly more midterm questions on the topic. |

Future Plans
Term | Fall 2014 |

Activities | Revision of outcomes and assessment methods (measurements) |
Details | The course outline of record will be amended by Oct 2014 to reflect our current SLO's on not '09's outdated 20+ "learning objectives" per school policy. Also, more emphasis needs to be applied to SLO-C to bring the performance up to "proficiency". |
