Improvement Details

DetailsAdded services: I spent more time at the beginning of Google Apps II making sure new students and continuing students had a strong working knowledge of general document production concepts and vocabulary.

Assessment Methods

MethodsI used demonstration / review at the beginning of each class to refresh students' understanding of the material. During the review, students were asked questions at every step and required to guide me in my execution of a task.

In-class assignments (to be completed during class) were part of every class.

Students were given research topics which they were require to complete and submit between the Thursday and Tuesday class (four day turn around time).

Assessment Data Discussion and Analysis

TermFall 2013
How and With WhomJulian Skolnick, Colleague and Rudy Padilla, Colleague
Number Assessed8
Data SummaryThe average score of the final quiz was 89% which feels consistent with the level of student participation, interest and follow through on assignments.

I maintained email correspondence with three students about their employment and professional goals. These were the most motivated and skilled students and the extra time and encouragement I was able to provide directly correlates to their overall performance.
Planned ImprovementsI would like to engage the less motivated and focused students in email correspondence outside of class. Sharing links to helpful articles, taking an interest in their life story and work history, encouraging them to invite members of their family and community to class have all proven to increase student buy-in and performance

DetailsI am created a clearer set of integrated projects rather than class by class projects that may not seem interrelated or relevant to the process of developing cloud-based document preparation skills.
