Assessment Data Discussion and Analysis
Term | Spring 2014 |
---|---|
How and With Whom | Faculty in the same program and in other programs, students and some local employers. |
Number Assessed | 50 |
Data Summary | Our benchmark is to have 70% or more of the students who complete the course able to successfully perform each outcome. Based on these results, we feel out students are successfully achieving our outcomes, with the exception of Outcomes A and B. These two outcomes are successfully met by approximately 50% of students in regular writing samples (as opposed to exercises specifically testing the outcome.) |
Planned Improvements | I plan to spend more class time addressing parts of speech and proper sentence structure, and to require more free writing activities where students then go back and look specifically for comma splices, run-ons and fragments. The idea is to increase their ability to apply the rules they understand and demonstrate in exercises to their day-to-day writing. |
