Improvement Details
Details | We refined our Course Outline of Record. Refinements include rewriting the Major Learning Outcomes. We also assessed SLO B from the new Course Outline with a new Assessment. |

Assessment Methods
Methods | All instructors of PHYC 10L assessed student learning outcome B (which is: Test a hypothesis explaining a physical phenomenon.) with a common question given during the last test of the course. We gave students a hypothesis and asked them to use given apparatus to test the hypothesis. We also asked them to explain how their experiment engages with the hypothesis and how their data supports or does not support the hypothesis. |

Future Plans
Term | Spring 2014 |
---|---|
Activities | Revision of outcomes and assessment methods (measurements), Assessment (measurement) of outcomes, Analysis and discussion of assessment data and next steps, Implementation of planned changes and reassessment |
Details | We have to compile data and work out some statistics. Then we have to understand what our data tells us and what it doesn't tell us. If we find that our new assessment is lacking, then we'll make adjustments to the assessment. If we find that our assessment seems like an informative one, then we'll work out how the statistics informs us of the next step to take in changing instruction methods, etc. |
