Data Summary | 3234 student/patients were surveyed and answered first question yes/no Of this amount, the 2, 315 students answering yes then were prompted to answer the second question : Did you receive information about other resources and 39 % (907) responded yes that they did receive additional resouces as part of their visit. For those who received resouces: the most common resource information recevied were: Healthy SF Health Plan, Low cost clinics in their region, Medi-cal, community mental health services, Outside Immunization clinics, Xray services, Dental services, vision services and unspecified |
Data Analysis | We have been able to sample a greater number of students than when this AUO was initiated in fall 2012 and have a significantly larger data sample for spring than at the end of fall semester. This is likely because we didn't get the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) questions imbedded into the self-check-in until well into the fall. The findings are very similar in percent referred in fall which was 38% and the common referrals seem to be in the same general categories for most to least frequent. We have a benchmark goal that atleast 60% of students will receive information about community resources as part of their encounter at Student Health Services (SHS). Some students as they return may under-report and not remember services that were discussed with them which may be part of our not yet attaining our goal, but clearly we need to continue to discuss other services that may be helpful available to our students when they come to the health center. |
Next Steps Planned | We plan to discuss findings at our fall 2013 staff meetings. We plan to continue to provide resources at patient/clinician visit, by posting in our lobby, on our SHS website and should discuss if there are other ways that we can better educate students on valuable community resources that may be helpful to them during their encounters with SHS. |
Learning Outcomes | Student education about health and wellness resources in addition to what they have available through CCSF Student Health Services on campus. |

Assessment Details | We will discuss at fall 2013 staff meetings and see if we want to expand the possible referral list or add a question such as was there information you would have liked that you did not receive or were you satisfied with the referral information you received at your last visit to see if 60% is a reasonable benchmark goal or is 38-39% of students indicating they got community resource information meeting their resource education needs. |
