Assessment Description | Students in the degree program complete the same work experience as the students in the certificate program. They complete a 35 hour skills lab that includes clinical and administrative practice. They complete 196 hours of clinical and administrative work experience at various health care facilities. The superviser at the site evaluates the students' skills, professional and ethical behavior, and HIPAA compliance. The students complete a self-evaluation, evaluate the placement site, and complete a Program Evaluation at the end of the course. Students complete a written final exam based on their placement, with questions consisting of the type of filing or medical record system to how to handle an emergency. |

Students rated their placement sites as 4-5 (goodto exellent) The Program Evaluation indicated that students felt prepared for the work experience and to enter the work force. |

Details | During the Professional Practice course students received panel management training provided by JVS in conjunction with SF General and UCSF. We also sponsored 3 employer events which focused on the MA job description and hiring processes from 3 different health care facilities. |
