Assessment DescriptionThe Medical Administrative Assisting students complete 35 hours of administrative procedures practice in the professional practice course. They complete 196 hours of administrative work experience at various health care facilities. They practice skills such as receiving patients, telephone technique, appointment scheduling, appointment reminder calls, and manage correspondence and billing forms.

The health care facilities complete a student evaluation at the end of the placement. Students complete a self-evaluation, evaluate the site, and complete a program evaluation.

The students also complete a series of online tests in preparation for the CPC exam.

Students received job search, resume, and interviewing information from JVS, a cooperative partner with the HCT Department. Three employer events were held with information on hiring processes for administrative positions.
