Assessment DescriptionThe Medical Receptionist students complete an eight-week professional practice course during the summer. The students complete 35 hours of skills lab which includes administrative practice. They were assigned to various health care facilities to complete 196 hours of work experience, Monday through Thursday, then meet with the instructor on Friday for conference.

The health care facility completes a performance evaluation for each student. The students complete a self-evaluation based on their performance, evaluate their training site, and complete a program evaluation.

The students complete a written final exam based on their professional practice site. Questions ranges from the type of medical record systems to the policy and procedure manual. Students complete a weekly journal describing their experience and tasks for the week.

Data SummaryAll four students received scores of 3-5 (satisfactory to excellent) on their evaluation forms. Individual site visits were very positive.
Data AnalysisStudents completed online quizzes in preparation for the CPC examinations. Students scored 70% and higher on all tests for an 80% average.
