Assessment DescriptionStudents enrolled in the Medical Evaluation Assistant Program complete an eight-week professional practice course during the summer. The students completed 35 hours of clinical skills lab practice. They are assigned to various health care facilities to complete 196 hours of work experience, Monday through Thursday, then meet with the instructor on Friday for conference.

The practice sites evaluate the students clinical skills, professional and ethical behavior, and HIPAA compliance with the health care standards. Students also complete a self evaluation, evaluate their clinical site training, and complete a program evaluation to identify weak areas in instruction.

Students complete a final project based on their professional practice site. They also complete a series of online tests during the eight-week class.

Data SummaryStudents received scores of 3-5 on their evaluations (satisfactory to excellent) with a mean score of 4. Based on the weekly reports and the Program Evaluation, students felt prepared for the professional practice experience.
Data AnalysisStudents scored 70% or higher on online practice tests. Program evaluations receive to date indicate students are prepared to enter the workplace.
