Assessment DescriptionStudent completing the HIT Coding Specialist certificate are in their third semester. They must complete all classes with a C or higher. They continue to work in groups completing projects based on the HIM profession. The third semester include diagnostic and procedural coding practice and using an electronic encode for coding case studies.

• Assign procedure and service codes using Current Procedural Terminology (CPT)

• Use and maintain electronic applications and work processes to support clinical classifications and coding
