Assessment DescriptionCurrent students were surveyed to gather their contact information, prior college education, current employment, and preference for paralegal classes in the following semester.

The Program also surveyed those students petitioning for graduation. Six months after graduation, we will follow up with the above graduates to see if they have found employment as a paralegal after completing our Program.

The Program also surveyed employers on their requirements and expectations for candidates.

Data Analysis

Data Shared With
  • Faculty and staff within the same program (at CCSF)
  • External agencies
  • Program Advisory Board
Data Sharing Methods
  • Face-to-face meetings
  • Teleconferencing or skype
Data Summary• Students need more instruction in writing and in using the formats required by law offices and courts.

• Our courses should offer more practical training so that graduates can quickly function in a law office.

• Technology and ethics need to be taught throughout the curriculum.
Data AnalysisMore mentoring and effort must be made to retain students. Students either take a break or do not continue in the Program causing enrollment to decline in the second year courses.
Next Steps Planned

In Fall 2013, the Program will offer a student orientation at the beginning of the semester to help students understand what effort and time they must devote to succeed in this Program. Hopefully, there will be funding for peer mentors which helped with retention in the past.
