Data SummaryThe majority of students demonstrated knowledge of the CCSF SAP policy and federal guidelines (i.e. 600% Lifetime Pell Eligibility, types of aid eligible).

The majority of students were able to identify the reason(s) they were disqualified from financial aid as a result of attending the SAP workshop.
Data AnalysisThe majority of students were able to answer the post-test questions correctly and identify the exact reason(s) they were disqualified from federal financial aid.
Next Steps Planned

The department made plans to meet with the Vice Chancellor of Student Development to propose changes within the Academic Counseling unit in the Financial Aid Office. Those meetings occurred in April and May 2013. The Academic Counseling unit conducted research on the 72 districts and 112 community colleges SAP policies and have made changes based on the results of the pre and post test exams. The department will propose and make changes to it's office processes that impact SAP appeal/petition submissions. The Academic Counseling unit made changes to the SARS-grid scheduling system to accommodate students in developing full and realistic educational plans.

Assessment DetailsSince planned changes have been implemented at the beginning of Summer 2013 for the 2013-2014 academic year, the counseling unit will allow for the changes to become normal in the office for the Fall 2013 semester.

During the Fall 2013 semester, SLO discussion will have a place on agenda at all Academic Counseling meetings for plans to implement the new assessment for the Spring 2014 semester.

Additional Highlights

Students on Financial Aid disqualification have been able to obtain an awareness of the SLO process and how it has an effect in continuous improvement of financial aid services provided for them.

As a result of the SLO activities of this program, there has been timely communication to the entire district in regards to new federal regulations that impact federal student aid.

The Financial Aid Academic Counseling unit has been able to have continuous conversations about improving service delivery and most importantly improving student learning.
