Assessment DescriptionThe assessment involves a pre and post questionnaire that assesses the students understanding of the required steps to complete the most common CCSF educational goals, i.e., Associate Degree, Transfer and Certificate. The questionnaire consists of a 3 multiple choice survey that is distributed before and after a one hour workshop activity. The questions are as follows:

1. What is a CCSF educational goal?

2. What are the steps to complete an educational goal at CCSF?

3. What are the academic expectations to obtain an educational goal at CCSF?
Learning OutcomesAfter completing the workshop activity, students were able to clearly articulate and demonstrate the required steps to complete their educational goals.

Data SummaryOut of the 38 new students that participated in the assessment, 92% of the participants were unfamiliar with the required steps and academic expectations to complete their educational goal. However, after completing the workshop activity, 100% of the participants were able to identify the required steps to complete obtain their CCSF educational goal.
Data AnalysisAfter tabulating and analyzing the pre assessments, 92% of the participants were unable to answer the following question: What is a City College of San Francisco educational goal? After tabulating and analyzing the post assessment, 100% were able to identify the correct answer.
Next Steps Planned

To increase student success, effective Fall 2013 the CalWORKs Education and Training program will require participants to meet with a CalWORKs counselor 3 times a semester.

Pre assessment tabulations and midterm grade report reflects that CalWORKs students require additional support beyond the workshop activity.

  • To increase student success, the CalWORKs Education and Training Program has implemented a midterm grade intervention. This appointment requires all program participants who have not met satisfactory academic performance to meet with a CalWORKs counselor and explore all the various resources available to promote student success. Some of the resources explored are as follows - CalWORKs Homework Club

  • Student Health Center
  • Westside Clinic
  • Homeless Prenatal
  • Compass Family Services
  • Bay Area Legal Aide
Learning OutcomesMidterm grade report analysis reflected a 38% below satisfactory rate. Final grade report will be ran and reviewed on June 5th to determine student success rate.
