Data SummaryOverall, only 66% of the students achieved an attainment of 80% or higher. However, the score was skewed by including students who stopped attending (thus achieved scores of 0 on assignments and activities), but did not drop out of the course. This will be remedied by the new FW grade.
Analysis SummaryThe results were disappointing. The previous time the course was assessed the benchmark of 70% passing rate was used. This may be a preferable benchmark, since it also indicates passing the course with a C or higher. Input is needed from colleagues and advisers to discuss better ways of either assessing the student attainment of SLOs; or changes that the course may need.
Next Steps PlannedThe SLOs were completely revised during the spring semester. Among the SLOs assessed in spring were many objectives that are not realistic and should not have been included in the course. Course outline was revised and approved. The next time the course is taught, the new SLOs should better reflect the actual instruction.
