RTT 71 - ORIENTATION TO RADIATION THERAPY - Stage 5 - Debra Stastny

Assessment

Assessment Methods
  • Analysis of exam, quiz, or homework items linked to specific SLOs
  • Assignments based on rubrics (such as essays, projects, and performances)
  • Direct observation of performances, practical exams, group work
Assessment DescriptionIn addition to written exams (multiple choice, essay, True/false, etc.), all lab quizzes were administered using an oral format where students were read paragraphs and required to answer questions. This is done in an attempt to develop listening, reasoning and communication skills that resemble the RT clinical setting, rather than the conventional classroom.

Data SummaryFaculty (L. Yim) not able to complete semester due to illness. Substitute (D. Stastny) was not able to use same assessments, created new assessments that didn’t follow closely with assessment schedule.
Analysis SummaryMany lab scores (D. Stastny regular faculty) near or below benchmark: B, D, H. Quizzes are oral with critical reasoning involved. Students may take entire semester to adjust to non-traditional assessment style.
Next Steps PlannedSince students have met Lab benchmarks at the end of the semester, (final is also oral), oral quizzes will remain in effect.
