Data Summary | The rubric provided students with the areas of evaluation and provided feedback on areas of strength and weakness. Oral presentations are required for most HIT classes, so the feedback will be useful for future presentations. The areas of improvement were tone and eye contact with the audience. All students made some eye contact with the audience which is an improvement from past presentations where students read from a script. The scores were much higher in these areas. |
---|
Analysis Summary | I saw a significant improvement in tone and eye contact for all student presentations. There was also better organization of material. |
---|
Next Steps Planned | I will continue to use the rubric for the oral presentations, but I will be adding additional PowerPoint chart assignments to build on skill level for the second and third semester classes. |
---|
Learning Outcomes | Same as above. |
---|
Tentative Future Plans
Term | Fall 2013 |
---|
Activities | Implementation of planned changes and reassessment |
---|
More Details | I will continue to use the rubric for the oral presentations, but will be adding additional chart creation to the PowerPoint unit. |

Additional Highlights
The rubric provided a better feedback criteria for students to understand their strengths and weaknesses for oral presentations. Students addressed the audience directly rather than read from their notes and the tone allowed the audience to hear the presentation clearly so questions could be asked at the end. Very happy with the outcome!
