Assessment DescriptionUpdated course outlines for HLTH 61 (3 units) and HLTH 63 (2 units) by unifying them into one course, HLTH 202 (5 units) to streamline course completion and to reflect a more accurate description around course SLOs. Revised course outline was submitted and approved by curriculum committee in May 2013.

Discussions and focus groups were also held with employer partners and students to identify core competencies required in the field of community work and current industry training needs. Based on this feedback, performance based exam was updated to reflect those changes.
Learning OutcomesA. Evaluate health care delivery systems including eligibility and community resources in order to provide appropriate linkage services to clients.

B. Demonstrate mastery of the core competency skills on non-clinical health assessment, advising, service coordination planning, and client-centered counseling in health setting during internship placements and during performance placed exams

C. Describe and demonstrate mastery of cultural humility principles and practice in working with diverse clients and communities.

D. Design, prepare and facilitate a group health education training or presentation demonstrating effective group level teamwork and conflict resolution skills.

E. Assess and demonstrate job readiness including ability to work as part of a health care team, self-care practices, construction of a professional portfolio and resource notebook.

Data SummaryHealth 61 and Health 63 consolidated into Health 202 and was approved by the curriculum Committee. SLOs were consolidated from 14 into 5 which include a more accurate and broader description of what CHWs perform in the field. The following assignments were linked with SLOs and document % of students with grades above 80% as well as % of those passing required Performance based exam.

Employer Evaluation (SLO E): 100% received 95% or better (positive eval from employers

Cultural Sharing Assignment (SLO C): 90% received 90% or higher

Team Project (SLO C, D, and E): 80% received 85% or higher

Resume Assignment: (SLO E): 85% received 80% or higher
