Ruberic 5: Over all creativity and uniqueness 6/incomplete 4/good 8/excellent
Analysis SummaryStudents achieved outcome if most students received a rating of good or excellent. Based on the results, the artist statements have been improved from last semester. While ruberic 4 is also vastly improved – more time in the lab needs to be given to in class printing, allowing the students to practice. Open lab time was severely cut this semester limiting open lab hours. Another issue is the lack of equipment – if there was a computer available in the print lab students could work even while classes are in session.
Next Steps PlannedTo address the goal of improving the artist statement I included a partial lecture and lots of examples as it related to the final capstone project. I feel that the loop has been closed in producing artist statements and in producing fairly good quality final projects. Next semester I would like to evaluate the ruberic “Demonstrate an understanding of the different output devices and produce prints using at least three types of printing processes”. by continuing to work with our lab on printer access and workflow.

Changes

DetailsI addressed "Demonstrate ability to solve photographic problems in increasing levels of sophistication using computer software programs." which is a broad SLO encompassing a lot of components. This semester I focused on the quality of the projects as a whole, but specifically "Actively participated in final critique, provided artist statement and put files on server.(Assignments 1-final put in a folder with your name in a 72ppi jpg format." and "Demonstrated understanding of fundamental craft and concepts relating to chosen presentation through examples drawn from text sources, lecture, and personal experience.". To promote success I designed an additional lecture in writing an artist statement as well as showing extensive examples.
