Data Summary | A rubric was used to assess the use of type hierarchy in the Menu Design project. Out of 20 students attempting the project, 16 demonstrated proficiency with this aspect of the project. This is only 80%. |
---|
Analysis Summary | The majority of students completing the project were successful with the hierarchy aspect. The four students who weren't proficient with hierarchy also did not complete other aspects of the project successfully. |
---|
Next Steps Planned | Future assessments of this SLO will use a focused activity, e.g. an exercise, rather than a complex design project. The Menu Design project synthesized many learning outcomes, and as such didn't discretely evaluate the target SLO. |
---|
Learning Outcomes | Use typographic hierarchies to organize information. |
---|
Changes
Details | New materials and exercises were developed to cover typographyic legibility and readability for print and screen. |
---|
Learning Outcomes | Discuss and evaluate the various factors affecting legibility and readability of type and apply them appropriately. |
---|
Tentative Future Plans
Term | Fall 2013 |
---|
Activities | Revision of outcomes and assessment methods (measurements) |
---|
More Details | Based on past semester assessments, paired with ongoing curricular updates in the department, the GRPH 53B major learning outcomes will be revised during Fall 13. Additionally, the department will be conducting meetings to share best practices related to assessment techniques. |
