Assessment DescriptionStudetns enroll in this one unit class (which is importporated into the first seven weeks of HIT 50A, a three unit course) based on the recommendation of the Health Ed Department for students seeking admission ito the Medical Interpreter Program. THis class provides instructin in the basics of roots, prefixes, and suffixes in forming medical terms and determining correct, working definitions for commonly used medical terms. Studetns successfully answered the proper interpretationof medical terms found in three case histories at 85% or higher and all students enrolled in Spring 2013 correctly answered 56 of 61 matching medical components to definitions on three quizzes.
