Assessment DescriptionSpecifically, I looked at the Visual Literacy Forum answers and Gallery Review paper to evaluate students’ understanding of the materials presented and their ability to articulate the synthesis of the materials. The Gallery Review is about image analysis based upon the class materials.

The Visual Literacy Forum occurs in the second week of the class and the Gallery Review is due the eighth week of the class.

83% of the students wrote Gallery Review Papers that were Satisfactory or Excellent.

Changes

DetailsNew assessment of image analysis in the form of the Gallery Review. Modified explanations of image analysis and provided more images with analysis.

Added an additional text, Criticizing Photographs by Terry Barrett to support the curriculum in place. Designed Forum interaction to explore Barrett's types of photographs.
Learning OutcomesMore students had a higher success rate in analyzing images. This included more in-depth analysis than previous semesters.
