Tentative Future Plans

TermFall 2013
Activities
  • Assessment (measurement) of outcomes
  • Implementation of planned changes and reassessment
More Details1. The progressively difficult series of online exercises for the endocrine unit of the course was designed to capture the lowest performing 20% of the students. Every student who earned a grade of 74 or less on any of the online exercises was required to attend an in-person class focused on listening and reading comprehension. The exercises and grading system captured 12%, not the 20 percent aimed for. For the fall 2013 semester I will modify the exercises and grading to capture more of the target students.

2. Survey answers by the lowest performing 12% indicate the area of most difficulty for them is pronunciation of the medical terms, followed by memorization. My plan is to develop more pronunciation exercises and opportunities for the students .

3. I plan to again survey the lowest performing students to determine the areas that are most challenging for them.

4. 85.7 percent of the class earned a final grade of 85% or above. This is short of the target 90% of the class earning 85% or above. Addressing the learning needs of the lowest performing students will increase the success rate of the class overall. (These numbers exclude those students who had more than 3 unexcused absences during the semester)
