Assessment Description | Group presentation involving the design and demonstration of a rudimentary working generator, motor or transformer. Lab practical involving demonstration of a set of skills to obtain a diagnostic quality radiograph. Lab final exam involving the analysis of x-ray images to determine the diagnostic value of each, and how to amend the procedures for any errors. |

Data Summary | The average score on the midterm lab practical was 96% indicating a superior demonstration of the procedures necessary to produce a diagnostic radiograph. The average score on the lab final exam was 63%. This indicated a very poor understanding of the material. The questions were difficult, which could indicate the questions were misunderstood rather than the actual material. Student often tend to subscribe to a "rule-in" rather than "rule-out" process with multiple choice questions on exams. Often, it has been observed that students attempt to make every one of the choices the correct answer, rather than ruling them out. |
Analysis Summary | Benchmarks were set to measure achievements of each SLO. For example: Lab practical - the class average is 80% or better Lab final - the class average is 80% or better Group presentation - the class average is 90% or better |
Next Steps Planned | More time to analyze images. Students did not feel confident in this area. A worksheet would helpful. |
Learning Outcomes | The class average for the lab final exam is 80% or better. This tests the students ability to analyze, contrast and compare images for diagnostic value, and determine what corrective actions, if any, need to be taken to amend the quality of the image. |
