Data SummaryGreater than 90% of students passed MED 49 with a grade of "C" or higher.

Approximately 36% students expressed plans to apply to another health care program besides Medical Assisting.
Analysis Summary90% of students passed all competency skills exams.
Next Steps PlannedDidactic and clinical instructors met face-to-face and reviewed Fall SLO's on August 6, 2013. Critical thinking scenarios/exercises will be incorporated into each class session. Chapter of medication administration was discussed and it as decided that each instructor will focus on different parts of the lengthy chapter in order to increase efficient use of time.
Learning OutcomesStudent will calculate a correct dosage, prepare the medication and administer the medication safely and accurately using proper technique.

DetailsCourse outline was revised by both instructors to include didactic and clinical activities/objectives/policies in one package. Schedule of lecture material and skills in lab were coordinated.

Additional Highlights

MED 49 in coordination with ERT 104 and MED 82 allows the student to gain experience with the general public. This increases their self-confidence and communication skills and begins a process of identifying themselves as a health care professional.
