Analysis SummaryVOCN 42B Adult Medical-Surgical Nursing (CRN 33889) Analysis of Data:

1. Students that completed the course took written examination (Quiz #1, Midterms, and

Finals) to assess knowledge and comprehension of topics such as nursing care, diagnostic tests, medical and treatment of the hematological and lymphatic system disorders.

. Students that completed the course articulated correct responses to questions asked during theory and clinical conferences about clinical situations including care of the adult medical/surgical clients utilizing critical thinking.

3. Students that completed the course and submitted the required major care plan on the care of an adult Medical/Surgical patient with a score of at least 80% based on the grading rubric for major care plan and 85% on the Student Clinical Client Care Assignment Summary and Evaluation.
Next Steps Planned1. The needs and issues will be address as revealed by the assessment by changing teaching approaches and student test preparation.

2. Test questions and answers were reviewed by faculty(faculties) and students. Correct answers were explained to students to encourage & develop critical thinking within a week of the test date.

3. Students were encouraged to ask questions and share comments in the classroom.

4. Students were able to review their scantrons with faculty. Faculty (faculties) discussed the rationale of correct answer to questions and answers within a week of the test date.

DetailsUtilized multiple instructors to present the course contents and procedures. Re-wrote test questions utilizing Boards of Vocational Nursing Guidelines in test writing and test taking. Utilized new approaches in preparing students for examinations.
