Assessment DescriptionA non-graded, beginning of the semester survey was administered measuring students’ knowledge of core beliefs of major spiritual traditions, (Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam), especially in terms of how the world faiths compare/contrast with one another, thus demonstrating their similarities and differences. At semester’s end, a similar assessment (as part of a final exam) will be given to the class and graded.

Data SummaryAt the beginning of the course, 15% of the students answered the questions correctly. At the end of the course 85% answered the questions correctly.

Next Steps PlannedInstructor applied to convert the course into an online course. The online materials will be developed in the spring. This will provide the opportunity to revise and update the course outline, highlighting the assessment of student learning outcomes. It will also allow for more frequent interactions with students, which should lead to better performance.
