Data SummaryDemonstrate strong, assertive verbal skills.

--There was a 5% decrease of self-assessment at the mastery level.

--There was a 2% increase of self-assessment at the intermediate level.

--There was a 4% increase of self-assessment at the introductory level.

Demonstrate defensive physical skills.

--There was a 3% increase of self-assessment at the mastery level.

--There was a 20% increase of self-assessment at the intermediate level.

--There was a 23% decrease of self-assessment at the introductory level.
Analysis SummaryFor Outcome D (demonstrate defensive physical skills):

Students have achieved outcome if there is a 2-4% increase in self-assessment at the mastery levels, a 20-25% increase at the intermediate level and if there is a 20-25% decrease in self-assessment at the introductory levels.

For Outcome C (demonstrate strong, assertive skills):

Students have achieved outcome if there is a 2-4% increase in self-assessment at the mastery levels, a 2-5% increase at the intermediate level and if there is a 2-5% decrease in self-assessment at the introductory levels.
Next Steps PlannedSince the emphasis in the class is on defensive physical skills, our criteria for achieving that outcome is much higher than the criteria for achieving strong assertive skills. Nevertheless, we plan to look at how we might improve that outcome by incorporating a review of the use of verbal skills at the start of each class.

During Fall 2013 we will focus on Outcomes E, F, and G.

--identify violence prevention strategies in public settings

--identify violence prevention strategies in personal relationships

--summarize psychological and physical self-defense skills and primary self-defense principles
