Data SummaryThe students indicated that their understanding of a career in research in the field of stem cell biology increased. Their poster presentations were indeed of professional quality.
Analysis SummaryThe pre and post surveys indicated an increase in learning as applied to the learning outcomes. On a scale from 1-5 with 1 being low and 5 being high, most pre survey results were in the 2-2.5 range, but the post survey results were in the 4.5-5 range.
Next Steps PlannedThe student internships have been increased from 1 semester to 2 semesters, beginning Fall 2013. The course outline for BTEC21D was revamped during Spring 2013 to create two different semester long courses, BTEC21D and BTEC21E. A new assessment plan will be created for Fall 2013 to reflect this change.

More DetailsSince the old BTEC21D course has been expanded to create 2 courses, BTEC21D and BTEC21E, we will have to change the assessment since the poster presentation will be part of BTEC21E and not BTEC21D. The new assessment will likely involve an analysis of the final written research proposal required in the BTEC21D course. Pre and post survey assessments will likely stay in place.
