Assessment Description1. Students are evaluated by the course instructor and a preceptor from their echo internship site.

2. The course instructor evaluates the students in the classroom lab students to assess their ability to perform a basic echo: have knowledge of the keyboard and transducer to obtain the basic views, apply color flow and spectral Doppler, and apply appropriate formulas and measurements.

3. The evaluation by the clinical preceptor(s)is to provide the student with an assessment to help them improve in a range of areas: technical skills, interaction with echo department and patients, the ability to learn, improve and advance in skills, and student responsibilities including attendance and initative.

Data Summary1. All students recieved appropriate evaluations from their internship sites for their anticipated academic and technical level.

2. All students performed successful basic echocardiograms for the instructor meeting the course requirement.
Analysis Summary1. All students were adequately prepared for their clinical internships and successfully completed their first of three internship rotations.
Next Steps Planned1. Additional (refurbished) equipment (exercise stress testing equipment and ultrasound system) for the CVT/Echo Program classroom lab for skills training will be received this semester and will advance the level of student preparation for their clinical internships. Procedure protocols will be developed to facilitate student proficiencies.
Learning Outcomes1. More thorough preparation by the student for clinical internship.

Details1. Student evaluation forms fo clinical internships were created to use via email attachments to allow for timely evaluation of studenet's internship performance.

2. Also an on-line assessement of level of preparation of student and the opportunity for suggestions for instructor to incorporate into course.

1. Issues that are encoutered in the internship area such as background and drug checks, immunization records,facility contracts, changing medical institution requirements (electronic medical records), and academic preparation,are routinely discussed by the HCT faculty to improve students' success.
