Data Analysis

Data Shared With

Faculty and staff within our department

Data Sharing Methods
  • Face-to-face meetings
  • Shared document files
Data SummaryStudents were still finding costing and working with costing formulas problematic. Fully 50% of students could not answer costing formula-related questions & scored poorly on test questions related to use of formulas.

The average grade on the costing assignment was 71%.
Analysis SummaryA majority of students should be able to use these formulas correctly. Changes to assignments are necessary to achieve a better outcome.

Explicit linking of assignments to SLOs is needed.
Next Steps PlannedMore class time spent on costing. In class small-group work.

More thorough explanation of the assessment rubrics.
Learning OutcomesRefer to previous answers.

Activities
  • Revision of outcomes and assessment methods (measurements)
  • Assessment (measurement) of outcomes
  • Analysis and discussion of assessment data and next steps
  • Implementation of planned changes and reassessment
More DetailsCosting assignment will be re-configured, and broken into parts. A draft of some parts will be due just after midterms. This will allow me to see what part of the costing is creating problems for the students and to adjust class time as needed.

I will re-do the rubric for lab performance and will consider revising the course outline to better coordinate with program outcomes.
