ENGN 20 - Intro to Circuit Analysis - Stage 5 - Keith Mueller

Assessment

Assessment Methods
  • Analysis of exam, quiz, or homework items linked to specific SLOs
  • Student self-assessments (such as reflective journals and surveys)
  • Student satisfaction surveys
Assessment DescriptionExams and homework were analyzed as to the student's ongoing pattern of learning.

Students filled out a survey which is a direct self-assessment of their level of learning (1-10) scale on the student learning outcomes as stated in the syllabus at the beginning of the semester. this survey also contained questions about the student's level of satisfaction with the course/instructor.

Data SummaryThe students aggregate level of learning for the for the 7 learning outcomes from the course syllabus was 8.3/10 points

The students overall learning experience was an average of 8.9/10 points

The lowest performing SLO as rated by the students - "Categorize basic analog transistor models and operational amplifier configurations" could reflect a book discrepancy on transistor circuits.
Analysis SummaryStudents should have achieved outcome if current semester is equal or greater than learning outcome historical averages for the same class. Data indicated lower level of learning outcomes for 5 out of 7 subtopics.
Next Steps PlannedOne issue was the course topics covered by the text - the textbook was changed.
