Assessment Description4 fashion instructors met and discussed the techniques we are teaching in each of our apparel construction courses. The abilities of the students to complete work, and where they were lacking, discussed. Techniques were shifted within the various courses to create a more appropriate and smoother flow of learning.

Data SummaryStudents found the stripe matching in 15A very difficult. We have moved it to a later construction course

Judy Jackson requested that students in 15A create a neck facing sample, as they were unable to construct one on their own in patternmaking class.

Hand sewn buttonholes were deemed to be a "couture" technique and moved out of 15A into that course.

More DetailsI plan to rearrange the techniques taught in Notebook 1 and Notebook 2. I will create the Handsewing samples and the Neck Facing as their own assignments. I plan to create an actual Machine Use Quiz that students must take.

Additional Highlights

I enjoyed working with my colleagues and assessing what we are teaching and why. It was very motivating to achieve consensus on what is important for students to learn.
