Assessment

Assessment Methods
  • Analysis of exam, quiz, or homework items linked to specific SLOs
  • Direct observation of performances, practical exams, group work
Assessment DescriptionI gave them exams at the end of the semester. Below are examples of some of the questions.

1. Factor this “special product” completely

2. Write the trigonometric functions as ratio of the sides for triangle ABC.

3. Find the angle A, B and C in degrees. (Hint: Use calculator and inverse)

4. Solve for X:

5. Graph the following equation using a table of solutions. List at least 3 points in the table.

6. Use the quadratic formula to solve the following:

7. Solve the system of linear equations using any method you choose:

8. Express as a combination of logarithm sums and differences.

9. Use your calculator to find the natural logarithms.

Data SummaryStudents seemed to grasp the concepts of right-angle trigonometry, but had a hard time with logarithms. Place where they simply plugged in numbers to get a final answer, the students did well. It became a little more difficult for students when they had to bring in several concepts to solve a problem.
Analysis SummaryI simply graded the exams and quizzes.
