Data SummaryEleven out of 12 students participated in presentations which directly addressed SLO-B.

All students submitted reflective writings linked to SLOs.

At the end of each class students identified three things based on the lecture/discussion: something they found interesting; something they didn't know before; something they want to learn more about.
Analysis SummaryPresentations were evaluated to measure how closely they met the standard "Investigate strategies to improve parent-provider communication". The presentations had to address two aspects of communication: they had to inform the school community of resources or strategies for parent education; and they had to build community in the execution of the plan. (e.g., a parent group could organize a calendar or community resource board identifying activities for children and families.)

The three questions were helpful in identifying areas that needed more coverage.
Next Steps PlannedBecause the SLO-related activities were successful I will use the same strategies next semester.

Changes

DetailsI added more emphasis on SLOs. At the end of class students identified the SLOs which had been covered by the class content.

I also used SLO Bingo to engage students.

Tentative Future Plans

TermFall 2013
Activities
  • Assessment (measurement) of outcomes
  • Analysis and discussion of assessment data and next steps
  • Implementation of planned changes and reassessment
More DetailsI plan to continue what has already been started, including assessment, analysis, and discussion. I will continue to do a "SLO check" regularly so students can identify which outcomes are being addressed.

I will continue to assign reflective papers, parent interviews, and presentations.

I will also expand SLO Bingo and SLO Jeopardy because students were very engaged and proud to show off their expertise.
