Data Analysis

Data Shared With
  • Students
  • Representatives from "industry" relevant to course teachings
Data Sharing Methods

Face-to-face meetings

Data SummaryStudents have had difficulty in getting expediency needs addressed in the exercises (not fast enough)

Students have not spent enough time with the reading./printed instructional material

(Developed from analysis of questions missed, quality of work made during timed tests)
Analysis SummaryStudents should be able to quickly complete drawings to a consistent level of proficiency and clarity. Students that completed more of the class exercises performed better at semester's end

Students should be comfortable with the terminology of the course content. Tests on terminology are graded using std testing practices.
Next Steps PlannedImprovement - students need to be "enticed" into reading more material.

Solution - book was found inadequate - replace book.

Improvement - Students need to be "trained" to develop speed along side base skills.

Solution - develop more in-class spot-speed exercises
Learning Outcomesall

Changes

DetailsFrom prior classes - changed coursework to include in-class sketching assignments turned in at end of period for speed analysis
Learning OutcomesStudent competency/comfort/speed

Tentative Future Plans

TermFall 2013
Activities
  • Assessment (measurement) of outcomes
  • Analysis and discussion of assessment data and next steps
  • Implementation of planned changes and reassessment
More DetailsHave changed structure of course to include more "structured" in-class quick-work/quizzes to develop speed skills. Will test and compare to previous semester at end of current semester.

Have changed book from Sketching instructional to blueprint reading to illustrate "downstream" needs of student output - new book contains much more detail re terminology of course content. Will compare test scores from previous semester with current semester at end of semester.

Adopted more immediate "hands on" exposure for lab work w/less direct structure. This is an expirement to determine what "cements" classwork into student retention and speed.
