Assessment DescriptionA major assignment for this class is the site visit and written report covering compliance with Title 17 in areas such as staff coverage scheduling and correct accounting and documentation of consumer personal funds. The group project includes a presentation on best practice standards for care and services to developmentally disabled persons. Quizzes and a final exam with a passing rate of 70% is required to qualify for the certificate from the Golden Gate Regional Center.

Data SummaryAll students enrolled in this class on census day successfully completed the program at a grade of 70% of higher. At successful completion, students receive certification as a Residential Care Specialist in the field of developmental disabilities for Golden Gate Regional Center and can use this class to meet continuing education requirements by the Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division and State regional centers.
Analysis SummaryStudents in this class must score at a grade of 70% or higher to be eligible for the certification as a Residential Care Specialist. Students were able to answer correctly test questions covering Title 17 and Federal ADA regulations at 92% or higher.
Next Steps PlannedThis course is kept current yearly by review of changes to Federal, State, and local legislation and regulations. The course content is adjusted to incorporate new topics, as appropriate.
