Analysis SummaryStudents were assessed through 3 standard written exams as well as one research paper and 2 projects. The exams offered an objective assessment of course knowledge on fashion history terms and styles, with a standard grading system of percentages of answers used as criteria for success.

The paper and projects offered a subjective and creative expression of comprehension of topics such as influences of history on current fashion, and the influence of non-western dress on current fashion. Students were evaluated on a numerical scale of up to 100 points, and overall had greater success with the subjective assessments than the objective exams.

However, 41% students showed a high or above average comprehension of class material, which would be considered a successful rate.
Next Steps PlannedStudents with the most difficulty in this class have issues with English comprehension, do not purchase textbooks, or miss class meetings. These issues are addressed in class and on the syllabus. However, for the next time this course is offered, which should be Spring 2014, I plan to include a course reader for the class that should help fill in some missing information for students who miss class or don't purchase the book.
