Assessment Methods

MethodsAssessment methods included direct observation and collaborative evaluation of student production by a team of program faculty. As well, successful completion of a multi-section assignment was assessed.

Assessed student images qualitatively demonstrated mastery of SLOs A, B, and K. Mastery of SLOs F and J was determined by quantitative evaluation of required completion of image transfer, file storage, and image metadata inclusion.

In the aggregate, 56% of students successfully achieved mastery in SLOs F and J. Criteria used was broken down into correct naming, sizing, and inclusion of required metadata in submitted files. 95% of students properly named their files, 95% properly sized their files, 56% of students successfully included required metadata in their files (this data reflects student submission overlap).
Planned ImprovementsFaculty who teach this course will meet to discuss this data and formulate strategies for future improvements. This discussion is anticipated to take place at the first departmental Flex meeting of Fall 2014 under the direction of Department Chair-elect Erika Gentry. Compromised file management success may indicate the need for enhanced faculty training.
