Improvements

DetailsThe outline was re-written so the MLOs were adjusted as a reponse to revised lower division classes. This meant that activities such as assignments were modified.

Assessment and Analysis Review

Assessment MethodsStudents were assessed based on creative exercises specifically the final project.

Objectives:

1. To create a cohesive body of work (minimum of 1-3 pieces) that employ excellent use of photographic and photoshop techniques as well as posses a strong creative concept and/or idea. You may choose to revisit an assignment from this semester and “re-do” it with new images for example – or you may propose something new.

2. To use a successful workflow including tonal and color corrections, retouching, burning and dodging, interpretive controls, special effects, sharpening, collage, etc to make a successful images. Images must go a step beyond using photoshop as a “digital darkroom”.

3. To submit a written email or verbal proposal to work before you begin, and to receive Instructor support and feedback along the way.

4. To make a beautiful and successful outputs. To begin to think about presenting a series of work in a portfolio and to a gallery.

Turn In:

1. 8x10s or larger in a clean presentation format. If you would like to propose alternative image presentation ideas they must be approved in advance.

2. Provide a written artist statement describing the work and your process. Participate in the class critique.

3. A folder with your name on it in the drop box of all Assignments (1-final) in a 72ppi, jpg format for my archives.

I’ll show the work of many artists relevant to this project in class. Don’t miss these lectures

When Was Data Gathered?Week 17 data was gathered Week 18-20 it was reviewed.
Discussion LogisticsFaculty and staff in the same program as well as ongoing faculty meetings regarding the redesign of our curriculum which affects the incoming skills in this course.
Number Assessed13
Data and Analysis Summary100% of students received a score of 168 or higher (out of 200 total points) on all rubric elements for our capstone assignment except "shared work in progress at least one time with Instructor for feedback". A score of 160/200 was considered to have met the outcomes measured. Our benchmark goal is to have 100% of our students meet the outcomes as this is a third semester course. Based on these results, we feel we are doing fine in all areas except "shared with Instructor more than one time for feedback".
Future ImprovementsFuture improvements include adjusting the skill level of the course as it is advanced. As Beginning Photoshop is no longer offered this class is in flux and the course outline needs to be rewritten once faculty can agree on the exit skills from the courses preceding this one.

Program Review Request

Yes, the above future improvements require resources that will be requested during the next annual PROGRAM REVIEW cycle. Examples: additional staff, equipment, software, consulting services, etc.
