Improvement Details

DetailsInstructors agreed that the way we were proceeding with pre and post knowledge and attitudinal surveys of self perceptions of students’ knowledge base was inadequate.

We created a new pre and post Knowledge Acquisition Assessment survey. We also refined our outcomes by using external data. We made the outcomes more consistent with the CCC C-ID Statewide Descriptor for this course.

Assessment Methods

MethodsInstructors agreed that the way we were proceeding with pre and post knowledge and attitudinal surveys of self perceptions of students’ knowledge base was inadequate.

We created a new pre and post Knowledge Acquisition Assessment survey. We also refined our outcomes by using external data. We made the outcomes more consistent with the CCC C-ID Statewide Descriptor for this course.

The refined outcomes we assessed were:

- Compare and contrast the defining elements of each political theory.

- Evaluate the major ideas of major political theorists, past and present, from major regions of the world towards gaining a comprehensive understanding of political life and institutions.
