Improvement Details

DetailsDuring the Fall, 2013 semester, I modified assessments of outcome 6. Two assessment methods had been utilized previously for the same outcome. Modification included combining the two methods into one, which provided a more streamlined assessment of the outcome. This resulted in less confusion among students and a more transparent assessment method.

Assessment Methods

Methods9 papers were assigned in Fall, 2013. Each assigned paper assesses one or more course outcome. Additionally, the instructor utitlizes observation during group work and records student progress within a rubric. Rubrics are also used to report progress, points, and letter grades to students.

Assessment Data Discussion and Analysis

TermSpring 2013
How and With WhomAlthough I am the only instructor of the only section of Lern 60, I was able to discuss data with the Learning Assistance chair. We met to discuss the data gathered on the assessment of 14 skills students developed as a result of participating in the semester project for Lern 60.
Number Assessed25
Data SummaryFinal assessment displayed that 100% of those students who completed both the pre and post surveys increased their aquisition of the 14 skills by at least 98%.
Planned ImprovementsI will continue to encourage more sections of this course. Additionally, I will continue to refine the assessments by avoiding duplication of methods and by increasing more variety in assessment methods.
Program Review LinkYes, the above future improvements require resources that will be requested during the next annual PROGRAM REVIEW cycle. Examples: additional staff, equipment, software, consulting services, etc.
